Our Family Service aims to provide families with information about the autistic spectrum to help them with the management and decision making in respect of their child.
We offer:
Post diagnostic support
Including a personal meeting to give families a chance to discuss the diagnosis, ask any questions that arise and be informed about relevant services within Bromley.
Family Information Pack
Giving helpful written information
Parent Training
Where parents can learn more about the Autistic Spectrum and supportive strategies for home.
Family Training
Including support and training for brothers, sisters, grandparents, extended family and children with a diagnosis
Communication Support service
Helping parents learn how to use and make visual supports, including social stories
Support in applying for Disability Living Allowance
Follow on sessions
Offering information about a wide range of related subjects for parents and carers.

“Listening Ear” Service
For parents/carers who just want someone to talk things through with.
We can offer a service to:
Bromley families
- Who have a child with a diagnosis (or working diagnosis) on the autistic spectrum
- Whose child is up to 18 years old
As we are a Charity, some follow on work requires you to be a Burgess Member and for some sessions we may ask for a small contribution towards expenses.
Burgess Members have the benefit of access to our Library, support with applying for Disability Living Allowance, support with visual communication systems and discount rates for training, events and our Annual Conference. Click here to download a membership form.
Burgess provides other services for over 18s – Helping Adults and Lewisham Outreach Service.
Working with other agencies
There are a number of professional agencies in Bromley who support children with an ASC. Where appropriate, and with parental permission, we make referrals to these and other services and liaise closely with them to help them provide a co-ordinated approach.
